RITES OF PASSAGE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PRINCES AND PRINCESSES Afrikan Tradition In Afrikan tradition, special meaning is given to the number 7 and to the years divisible by 7. On the occasion of a child's 7th year, the tribe of community marks the event with a celebration most often recognized as a Karamu and the children are taught 7 lessons. The most recognized format entails a series of lessons determined to be the most valuable basic tools one should have. Some of the lessons focus on "Know Thyself", History, Values, Morals, Character Building, Self-Sufficiency, Family and Community, Healing through Diet, Dance, Music Therapy and Creative Arts. All lessons are "hands-on", interactive, with a lecture that compliments the experience. We are confident that these lessons will enrich one's wisdom and maturity, and produce a well rounded, conscious spirit. |
